PACE Technology Requirements
Since much of the course work is delivered utilizing asynchronous Internet-based instruction, web cameras, and Internet video conferencing, it is a requirement that PACE participants have access to the necessary technology resources.
Since technology is constantly updating and improving, these requirements may change during an individual's program of study. If so, individuals may be asked to upgrade their technology.
Hardware
Students should have access to the following hardware:
- Personal computer with a minimum:
- 2.0GHz processor (faster is always better)
- 1GB of RAM (more is always better)
- 80 GB hard drive (with at least 20 GB free space)
- CD/DVD±R drive (CD/DVD burner optional, but recommended)
- Web Camera
- Logitec® QuickCam® Communicate STX™ or similar model OR
- web camera built into computer
- Headphones (for use during Internet video conferencing)
- Built-in computer microphone OR external microphone (for use during Internet video conferencing)
- Camcorder
(any of the following)
- DV mini digital cassette
- Hi-8 digital cassette
- Hi-8 cassette
- VHS cassette
- Printer (Elementary PACE students are encouraged to bring a USB printer to the LCSC campus during summer sessions.)
Software
Students should have access to the following software:
- Computer Operating System:
- Mac OS X 10.4® or newer, OR
- Windows XP® or newer
- Internet Browser (preferred titles):
- Video Conferencing:
- Most recent Adobe® Flash Player plug-in for web browser
- Skype™
- Word Processing Software, for example:
- Microsoft® Word®
- Apple® Pages®
- Microsoft® Excel®
- Microsoft® PowerPoint®
- Web Page Authoring Software, for example:
- KompoZer™ (freeware; supported by TfT)
- Dreamweaver® (licensed; supported by TfT)
- The teachercandidate web server does not support web pages created in Microsoft® FrontPage®, Adobe® GoLive®, or Apple® iWeb®.
- File Transferring Software
- PDF Software
- Adobe® Acrobat® Reader to read PDF files
- PrimoPDF® (freeware) to create PDF files on Windows® operating systems
- Apple® QuickTime® video player
Internet Access
- High speed Internet access (Cable, high speed DSL, or better) with minimum upload speed of 256 KB/sec.

It is the student's responsibility to contact the school's technical support personnel for assistance in this matter.
Students are required to use the LCmail account provided for them by Lewis-Clark State College. This is the ONLY APPROVED e-mail communication mode.
